Carl F. Raba, Jr.
Class of 1959, Civil Engineering
Carl Raba was named a 2004 Distinguished Alumnus of Texas A&M University by the Association of Former Students. Dr. Raba is chairman and CEO of Raba-Kistner Consultants.
Ray G. Anthony
Class of 1958, Chemical Engineering
Ray Anthony and his wife, Jo-Ann, have endowed the first engineering staff excellence award at Texas A&M. Their gift creates a perpetual fund to provide cash awards for non-faculty employees of the chemical engineering department where Dr. Anthony is the C.D. Holland Professor and served seven years as department head.
Lavon N. Anderson
Class of 1957, Chemical Engineering
Lavon Anderson and his wife have endowed the Melba and Lavon Anderson Fellowship in Chemical Engineering through a charitable remainder unitrust, which creates a gift to the university while providing lifetime income to the donor or beneficiary. Dr. Anderson is the retired president and chief operating officer of Rexene Corporation.
Larry D. Piper
Class of 1957, PETE
Larry Piper was among five inaugural recipients of the President's Award for Academic Advising at Texas A&M University. The award, created in 2004, includes $2,000 for each winner and recognizes “qualities and practices that distinguish [each recipient] as an outstanding academic adviser.” Dr. Piper is a senior lecturer and assistant department head of undergraduate studies in the Harold Vance Department of Petroleum Engineering.
Joe B. Mattei
Class of 1953, Mechanical Engineering
Joe Mattei was named a 2004 Distinguished Alumnus of Texas A&M University by the Association of Former Students. Mr. Mattei is the president of EEM Enterprises Inc.
Charles D. Holland
Class of 1953, Chemical Engineering
Charles Holland has endowed a chemical engineering scholarship in memory of his wife. The first recipient of the Eleanore Holland Scholarship in the C.D. Holland Scholars Program was named for fall 2004. Dr. Holland was Texas A&M's second chemical engineering department head. A professor emeritus, he currently serves as president of the Texas Institute for the Advancement of Chemical Technology.
Dionel E. Avilés
Class of 1953, Civil Engineering
Don Avilés was named a 2004 Distinguished Alumnus of Texas A&M University by the Association of Former Students. Dr. Avilés also has been inducted into the University’s 2004 Corps Hall of Honor. He is the president of Avilés Engineering Corp.
James D. Pitcock
Class of 1949, Civil Engineering
James D. (Doug) Pitcock has been named one of the "Top 100 Private Sector Transportation Construction Professionals of the 20th Century" by the American Road & Transportation Builders Association Transportation Development Foundation (ARTBA-TDF). Mr. Pitcock is owner, chairman of the board and chief executive officer of Houston-based Williams Brothers Construction Company, one of the largest highway/heavy contractors in Texas and the United States. He received the award at a Washington, D.C., gala reception and dinner in October 2004
Bill D. Allison
Class of 1944, Mechanical Engineering
Bill Allison and his wife have endowed the Gladys M. and William D. Allison ’44 Scholarship in the Engineering Scholars Program (ESP). Bill retired from Exxon USA after 39 years of service.
Franklin H. Mikell
Class of 1944, Industrial Engineering
Mike was honored as an Outstanding Alumnus of the Department of Industrial Engineering at its Spring 2004 Banquet. Mr. Mikell is the principal of Mikell Management Inc.
